Bio

Chelsea Josey, Attorney at Law, is licensed to practice in South Carolina. She represents clients in a variety of family law matters, including separation, divorce, child custody, adoption, pre-nuptial agreements and various emergency-based court hearings. Chelsea is originally from Detroit, Michigan, but now is a proud Tri-County resident of South Carolina. She mainly practices in our Mount Pleasant office, but she also frequently works out of our Summerville location, representing clients in their Berkeley and Dorchester County cases.

In 2016, Chelsea received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Pre-Law, at Michigan State University, graduating a semester early in her class. She then proceeded to law school and, in 2020, received her juris doctor degree from Charleston School of Law in Charleston, South Carolina. Chelsea is expanding her legal footprint across the state as she confidently provides legal advice to families and couples in need in Charleston, Dorchester, Berkeley, Beaufort and other surrounding areas. Chelsea is passionate about her practice and eager to help all her clients.

Experience

After law school, Chelsea began building her legal foundation in real estate law where she accumulated the knowledge she now uses in marital property division, foreclosures, and claims in temporary use and possession of a former marital residence. As soon as she passed the bar examination, she left real estate but continued to build her strong legal background. Chelsea began her legal career practicing as a reputable civil litigation defense attorney in the South Carolina Lowcountry, representing clients in personal injury, premise liability, vehicular accidents, construction defect cases, school cases, sexual abuse cases, defamation and several other tort-related issues. Chelsea is now practicing her true passion in family law where she continues to expand her knowledge as a South Carolina attorney and help clients, one-on-one, through each and every unique case.

Personal Interests

While she has a passion to practice law, Chelsea likes to spend her free time outdoors or traveling. In the summer, Chelsea enjoys a round of golf, boating on the Ashley River, or experiencing historic Downtown Charleston for some sight-seeing. Chelsea has a passion for the cool Mountain air where she loves spending a weekend for some hiking in the fall or snowboarding in the winter. Chelsea also comes from a family of musicians, and as a pianist for over 25 years, she loves to talk music and share her talent on the piano, microphone or guitar with other musicians, family members or friends.
