Patti Tutone

Patti Tutone is an Attorney located in the Dilworth Office of Collins Family & Elder Law Group. Patti was raised in Charlotte and is proud to be a “Double Tar Heel,” having obtained both her B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication and her Juris Doctorate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Patti has been licensed to practice law in North Carolina since 2006. Prior to joining the firm, she dedicated her legal career to public service, where she gained extensive experience representing individuals from a place of empathy, knowledge and compassion. She is a member of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC), the Family Law Section of the Mecklenburg County Bar Association, and Women Lawyers of Charlotte.

Experience & Scope of Practice

Patti began her career as a Staff Attorney at the Concord office of Legal Aid of North Carolina, representing residents of Cabarrus, Anson, Stanly and Union Counties in domestic violence matters and child custody matters. Over the course of her 9 years there, she expanded her practice to include subsidized housing and unemployment benefits cases.

Patti continued her public service career at Charlotte non-profit law firm Council for Children’s Rights (CFCR), first as a Staff Attorney for its Custody Advocacy Program, and then as the Director of Custody Advocacy. CFCR’s Custody Advocacy Program is court-appointed to represent the best interests of children caught in the middle of Mecklenburg County high-conflict child custody cases.

Patti handles all aspects of family law, with a particular interest in child custody.
